okka north
I can't seem to go into a shop without being pressed by the sales assistant to have one of their cards. I don't want one. I can now pre-empt when they are going to ask me and I firmly but politely say no thankyou. Yet, they press me and state how good they are and the discounts I will receive. Leave me alone, I just want to buy what I came in for and leave. When I say no thankyou they look at me as if there is something wrong with me. What is wrong with not wanting to be in debt? StarSparkle
I always just smile, shake my head and say firmly "No thank you". They never press it. I guess they're only doing their job, even if it is a bit annoying StarSparkle

nick2
Just say "No thanks, I only shop here as a last resort" that usually gets the message across.
Nesbit
I just say that I already have one. They have never asked me why I'm not using it!

davyboy
If you're going to spend a large amount( BUT not on credit) and they offer a decent discount if you take a card, do what I did. Get the discount and the card, then wait a while and close the account.
Lotti
I don't seem to get asked but if they do ask I just say 'no thankyou' and carry on the purchase. They never press it. I suppose there may be some assistants that desperately want/need that bit of commission but I haven't come across them!
Swan_Vesta
The only time someone has offered me a store card I laughed at her and pointed out the interest rate. I may look simple but I'm not retarded!

Be careful about messing up your credit rating by doing that. StarSparkle
