sarah1
I've just been to my daughters new school to buy the rest of her uniform she needs for the new term and it's cost me a fortune !! I've got back and added up everything up that I've bought and the total cost for her new unifom is..£115.99 That's.. £16 for her blazer £7.00 for her blouses (4pk) £24 for her trousers (3 pairs) £3.50 for socks (5 pairs) £31 for 2 jumpers, 2 ties and a badge to sew onto her blazer £18 for the schools rugby shirt she has to wear for out door PE £3.50 for plain white t-shirts (2pk) £12.99 for shoes That's just for my daughters uniform.. I daren't add on what it's cost me for my son's.. :o :o Has anyone had to pay more than this ?? Don't you think they should make it a bit more affordable ?? kittenta
Thats extortionate Could you not have got the "plain" stuff somewhere else cheaper? Luckily my kids don't wear blazes, they have uniform but only the school jumper has to be bought from school at £7 each. My sons black trousers cost me £6 for two pairs with 20% off at the time. His three short sleeved shirts were £6 again with 20% off. So I can't really grumble about mine:thumbsup:
sarah1
I did buy her blouses and trousers and odds and sods from places like Asda and Tesco's but she has to wear the schools own jumpers, ties, rugby shirt and all have to have the logo on.. I bought her blazer from BHS but I've had to buy the badge to sew onto it..
jena76
omg! i have got this lovely treat today got to go and buy uniforms for three kids. The schools should be ashamed of themselves charging the prices they do for something that they want them to wear! They shouldnt make money on things like this:rant:
kittenta
The least they could do is set up some kind of weekly/monthly payment thing or something even if they don't give the goods till it's paid for. That way you can spend 6 months steadily paying for the new set!
fox20thc
My eldest has the same issue. Fortunately the prices are not so bad. He has to wear logo'd polo shirt/Jumpers and PE kit but I can order it online as and when so at the moment its a case of one one and one in the wash! Cyclone
Apart from the rugby shirt + jumper pack the prices seem pretty reasonable really. It would cost a similar amount in clothing even if there was no uniform presumably, as normal clothes aren't free either.
sarah1
They are reasonable yes I agree .. I shopped around and got the basics for good prices..But it's when you have to add the cost of them all together, it's scarey..
Betty1
I think that if you sat down and worked out how much we, as parents, spend on our children we would be amazed ! I think it's because you've had to go out and spend it all at once it seems worse.
Mo
Sarah1 I think you have got off lightly. I have just totted up the cost of uniform for my daughter who is going up to secondary school and it comes to £300.
