SHsheff
Hold your breath for ever. Eventually, it'll stop. Try it!
BluePolo
It could come under entertainment watching you throw up after drinking the vinegar.....I wonder if that's how it works to stop the hiccups?
medusa
I was about to say words to the effect of 'actually, watching someone with really bad hiccups can be quite entertaining', but then I thought that it would be a really unhelpful thing to say in the circumstances, so maybe I'll just move the thread somewhere more sensible instead. Oh, and if you take a really deep breath in and push your diaphragm down (and your belly out) and hold it for as long as you can then breathe out very gently then that usually sorts out the diaphragm spasm. Alternatively, stand back to back with someone else, link arms and get them to bend over forwards and stretch you over their back also stretches the diaphragm and stops the spasm. Lestat
I have beeen hiccuping away for about 2 hour now, and its really starting to get on my nerves. Does anyone have any reccomendations as to what i might do to alliviate the symptoms. Ps tried holding my breath. Take a deep breath, hold it for about 10 seconds then exhale very, very, very slowly and concentrate as hard as possible that you're not going to hiccup. Everytime you think you feel it coming - relax and try not to! Mind over matter, Always works for me, try it - you'll be surprised.
