medusa
I had my house insulated with really good window insulations- although I was a bit suspicious at first, and looking for the catch (but I accept now that there wasn't one!).
toptotty1117
Has anyone on here benefited from this grant? Details of what it is, who qualifies and how to apply is here: Warm Front This is a very worthwhile grant to get if you qualify for it. The EAGA group own the company in Rotherham called Millfold who will sort out all your cavity wall and loft insulation needs. Even if you dont qualify for the warmfront grant you can still get other grants (sourced by Millfold) to enable you to receive cheaper cavity wall or loft insulation. If you are on qualifying benefits you can get the insualtion done completely free of charge. Give Millfold a call on 01709 830713 to arrange a free survey and they will happily tell you which grants you qualify for
Himupnorth
The EAGA group own the company in Rotherham called Millfold who will sort out all your cavity wall and loft insulation needs. This is actually not true. EAGA has been appointed by the Government to manage the Warm Front scheme. It does not own any of the installers paticipating in the scheme. bernie54
I applied for central heating last October, my boiler was gone beyond repair. I had new boiler installed, thermostatic controls on the radiators, a new immersion heater, all for free. It took a long time to sort out there's a lot of red tape involved, different people have to make assessments, but all worth it in the end, very professional all work has to be passed and is to an high standard. It took me to the first week in January to finally have it installed, but that was still quicker for me than saving up the 2100 pound that I had been quoted to have it done privately. I qualified for the grant under new rules that were only introduced last June, being if you have a child under 16 and earn less than I think 14000 pounds a year. As they had changed the eligibility that explained my 3 months wait because there was a backlog but I have since been told they have caught up with the backlog. I believe there is different criteria to qualify that is not wage related ie if you are a pensioner or disability benefits. Either way I would certainly recommend them and it costs nothing to apply. missmode
We were having problems with our heating and they came out to inspect the house. Our boiler had been playing up and we had paid a plumber to have a new pump on the tank. Anyway the inspector came out and assessed that the boiler wasnt big enough to feed all our radiators so did a report for us to have a new boiler. Fantastic... so I thought. The guys turned up and ripped out the old boiler were putting the new one in place and just casually said 'this wont make any difference its the piping that feeds the radiators which isnt wide enough'. It was too late to stop them by then which if they had said that before they had ripped out the other I would have done. Anyway I contacted Eaga and advised them of what had been said. With all work carried out under the scheme it has to be checked and we have had 2 different people out to approve works. Both have said that we should never have had a new boiler as the problem lies with the fact that ther piping to the radiators is only 15mm and we only have one downstairs dropper feeding 6 downstairs radiators. Both have also said it should have been picked up as the problem by the original assessor. Dont get me wrong I'm grateful for the new boiler but it has no more affect on our heating than our old one does and with the winter drawing in I'm dreading another cold one. I would much rather have kept the old boiler and them fix the piping as we now have a new boiler and the same heating problems. I have put a complaint into Eaga who have taken it up with the company that assess and install as I feel as though my grant has been wasted. Apart from the original assessor everyone else that has looked at our heating system has picked up that the problem is the piping and cant believe they got it so wrong. So I would say its a fantastic scheme, if they get it right.

bluebird62
Has anyone on here benefited from this grant? Details of what it is, who qualifies and how to apply is here: Warm Front Hello Max We had this done , first they insulated the loft [which was already insulated] and then did all the windows and doors which was a good thing. When we thought they had finished we had to go to the hospital the following day, came bacik and noticed that they had also done cavity wall insulation , this is something that we did not need as we are both hot all year round. So now we have the doors open from 5am to 11pm at night every day we are in. I am not pulling them down as they are doing a great job, just make sure that when you dont want something doing make it plain and clear to them . okka north
yet another benefit for those not working and another kick into the teeth for those that do, yet can't afford this type of work to be done.
bernie54
yet another benefit for those not working and another kick into the teeth for those that do, yet can't afford this type of work to be done. I am working and was still eligible for a grant, admittedly there is an upper limit of £14,000 income, I don,t recall anyone on here saying they are unemployed and received one of these grants. Also HIMUPNORTH is correct when he says EAGA were appointed by the gov't to manage warm front, when you are accepted for a grant EAGA send out all the literature which explains this.
