pattricia   574 #1 Posted September 3, 2006 Ive just been out weeding, and its a lost cause.I cant put weedkiller on them because there are loads of daffodill bulbs underneath. Im thinking of putting a long flowering ground cover plant in for next year that will smother them, what could you suggest ?
 Share this content via...
zweena   10 #2 Posted September 3, 2006 You could get a spot weedkiller (one of the dabber type ones) for the dandelions especially, then add some form of mulch that can be removed for spring time. (this is my quick option while everyone looks up good ground cover!)
 Share this content via...
medusa   16 #3 Posted September 3, 2006 I personally love the purple form of bugle (latin name ajuga) for ground cover- it's got purple leaves and blue flowers, and forms very dense ground cover. It's almost indestructible- which is handy.
 Share this content via...
Shiesh   13 #4 Posted September 3, 2006 I would recommend Shrubby Veronica or 'Hebe pinguifolia Pagei' for the full name !!!  Very hardy and they only reach approx 20-30 cms in height so ideal for beds and because she's evergreen you will always have colour too!!
 Share this content via...

stackmonkey   10 #8 Posted September 4, 2006 The ground varieties of thyme are always good, plus 'veronica prostrata' and 'sweet woodruff' too.
 Share this content via...
