knitbird
I've bought one skein of Noro transitions in a sale, and have no idea what to do with it, any suggestions welcome, knit or crochet (or is crochet not allowed here?) I really want to start something, but the yarn just sits there and mocks me!
Guest
Now that is lovely yarn. Just had a bit of a search, and all I can come up with are the usual hats and scarves, I'm afraid. There's a hat here. Here's a scarf (the stitch pattern is in the comments at the bottom of the blog entry). Here's another scarf (there's a link to the PDF of the pattern on the page). And here's a collar thing. Not my taste, but it might be yours .
knitbird
Oh, wow! Thanks for finding so many suggestions so quickly, Hecate, the collars one of those things that I'd love to be confident/ stylish enough to wear, but probably will wimp out of. I think the hat will be the one to make, as I don't have many. I'll post a photo, when I work out how to. Thank you again!
Guest
You're welcome . Instructions about how to post links to photos here. Take a photo of the Noro yarn; I'd love to see the colour and textures in the skein before you start knitting it up.
knitbird
I will, though the computer has started to format my picture cards occaisionally so they're left useless. May have to shout at the technical person in my house...
knitbird
Here is a picture of the ball, wound it from the skein on the train home. You may be able to get some idea of the yarn from this. Is sitting and stroking it a sign of madness?
Guest
Just edited your link, knitbird, as it wasn't working (it had an extra 'http:' in there) . Sitting and stroking the yarn certainly isn't a sign of madness. I like to regard it as an essential feature of the complete yarn appreciation process. gempud
Nothing wrong with sitting and stroking - it's almost like bonding with the yarn
Jabberwocky
A nice wide warm comfortable scarf for winter! One that can be folded along the middle if it hets really cold or just used wide to look good on slightly warmer days.
