Wedding photographers - what is a reasonable price?

Can anyone give me an indication of a reasonable price for a wedding photographer. I have a quote for £800 all-in. Not sure if this is good, average, indifferent. Not looking for anything special - digital photos, some prints and an album. Advice really appreciated.

it is nice to have a photographer on your wedding day but make sure you research before hand, i got married in the registery office and made a few calls to photographers ranged from 100 - 700 i paid for one that was just below 250 for 1/2hr and i have to say i was v disappionted with end results ( photos were no better than snapshots. when my father remarried they chose not to get a photographer instead opting for photos from family and i have to say some of their snaps blew ours away. maybe buy some disposable cameras for the guests to take photos for you, buy a nice album and pick the best from the bunch to display in it. natural photos that are captured throughout the day will tell a more personal story when you look back on your wedding day.

good luck and make sure you do your research, a notable photographer will be able to show you a portfolio of previous wedding photography.

your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and it is a real shame when you look back at your photos and they dont capture the essence of the day.
