donuticus
Warning Rant coming up. Right I am starting at Hallam later this month, while flicking through their Union website I noticed the advert for the Freshers Ball. Great I thought should be a good night out. How wrong could I be. The evenings entertainment is Pete from Big Brother and his band. Who on earth hired this talent vacuum and thought it would be a great way to promote the University. Why not employ a half decent dj. Wouldn't be too bad but the tickets are about £20 per head. Grrrrrrrr:rant:

BAZZO
Delighted Big Brother Pete is coming to the Hallam Ball despite all the publicity about girl-friend Nikki and his mental problems. I'm booking ZILLIONS of tickets if my caseworker gives ME THE THUMBS UP.
Fareast
I'm sure I read somewhere that many years ago , Bertrand Russell was invited to give a short speech before formally announcing the opening waltz [ or whatever ] at the Sheffield University Fresher's Ball . From Bertrand Russell to someone from Big Brother ! This proves to me that educational standards have indeed fallen . No doubt in a couple of years students will be able to get a degree in Big Brotherism ; be a change from playing with plasticine I suppose . Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield University are two completely different universities
Fareast
Yes , sorry , I did know that they were different universities but they are both universities and both in Sheffield and that was the main point . Incidentally , does Sheffield University have a " celebrity " to enhance their Fresher's Ball ? If so , who is it this year ?

Twiglet
£20?? When we have balls they are always guaranteed to be £40 upwards, have food that is worse than school dinners, and totally unknown DJs/Bands. I remember we had Dan from Big Brother at last years fresher's week
