Basket Bridge Wood Bottom.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone remember playing around Basket Bridge Shiregreen Sheffield, Wooley Wood Bottom, around 1971 onwards

I used to hang around there a lot but ten years earlier.

I remember being bitten by a dog and shot at with an air rifle (my mate John Mayor was hit in the leg.

We used to go down to Ecco on our bikes train-spotting there (steam trains were still running then.

There was this other train spotter there a bit older than us who lived on the Shiregreen estate (we were Parson Cross lads) and he would never tell us his name so we called him The Mystery Man.

This went on for almost a year then one day he picked up my train spotting book. I had written my name on the inside cover and he looked a bit shocked- as it was also his name (forename and family name)

Quite a coincidence.
