f1blades
God how do i start! I have a problem with the phone line or it might the router but i dont know which one is the problem?!! For an hour or so on the internet, suddenly i cant browse the internet anymore!! The DSL light keeps flashing on my router (normally it stays on) for about 5 mins, i gave up and was about to phone BT, i pressed dial on my phone on the DSL light stayed on! Another hour later it happened again! This time i pressed dial on my phone and no surprise it worked! I got fed up of the internet disconneting all the time so i tried using the backup line and unfort it does the same problem. Help pls...... My router is BT Voyager 2110. xircon
1>. Check your filters, have you plugged a phone in somewhere else in the house without a filter. 2>. Unplug all other phones and faxes and try to connect. 3>. If its none of the above its probably a fault - I spent 3 hours ******* round with my next door neighbours (and couldn't get thru to tech support) only for it to spring into life (mysteriously) by itself next day. Savannah2
Have you tried connecting directly into the master socket?

Of course you need to check your filters ~ you need the filters to work the broadband with the phone plugged in. Another thing you could do, because a similar sort of thing happens to me fairly often (BT Voyager 2100), is that you just need to turn off your computer, switch off your router and unplug it from the mains and the DSL cable (take the cables out of the back of the router), leave for a minute or two, plug the mains and DSL cable back into the router, switch it on, wait for all the diagnostics and everything to finish, then switch on your computer. Hopefully, that should work. *nice to see you back Sav*

No you dont need a phone plugged in to use your broadband. Have you got a spare filter? Swap filters, they do (rarely) go wrong. If its not your cabling or filtes then it is a technical fault, bite the bullet and phone BT tech support (go to the loo first, make some sandwiches and a drink - they are the worst tech support to phone, youll be on ages!!!!) What area are you in? I am assuming BT = your isp
