Cath
Why don't they like my garden?! I had one last year and lost it to the frosts over winter. I thought I'd look after the next one and make sure it was wrapped up warm and toasty this winter. Trouble is I don't think it's going to make it that far. It's looking very sorry for itself and the leaves are a bit marked. It's in a newly turned bed which had sacks and sacks of top soil and compost dug over it so the soil should be fine. I have another one that we kept in a pot and that's thriving. Any tips?
JoeP
God....I thought these things were indestructible. There's a small hedge outside our front door and it just keeps coming.... I'm not a gardener - I keep a small meadowland for posterity. The only thing I'd say about the one here is that there's a lot of vegetation around the base - perhaps that provides a 'winter blanket' for it? stackmonkey
Some varieties just aren't hardy enough for the climate around here; i've lost plants to hard frosts. I currently use 'genii' variety for a shady area in my garden (pale leaves, red flowers) and it seems to cope with anything without special treatment. Sultana
Are fuscias affected by soil acidity/alkalinity? Might be worth checking. Ours seem to do OK over winter with no protection.
