muddycoffee
I have two mates who live in them and they like them because they are far enough away from shops that you don't get constant noise from little scuffers who would hang around them, but close enough to the shops that you can walk it in two minutes. The are ok for flats of that age, in comparison to other flats I have seen and it was lovely in the summer with the windows open on a high floor. Apparently they are age graded so that younger and by implication slightly noisier tenants are in the higher floors. One of my mates exchanged his flat at low edges for one and it took him months on the waiting list, before a flat became available. And finally it might be worth noting that on some days you won't hear much english in the conversations in the lifts. The tennants appear to be from many countries and several continents. Shazbat
I lived in Newfield block for 7 years and there were the odd problems (never quite forget the Police arriving mob-handed - dogs, chopper, the lot - at 4am one morning, riding up in the lift while the people they were after scarpered down the stairs and out the fire exit ) but nothing ever really serious - apart from when my electricity meter blew up and the whole block spent a day without power. Apart from that ... seriously, I don't think they're any worse than most other blocks in the city. They tended to be mixed age-wise when I lived there, apart from the warden block for the elderly. *_ash_*
wow, plenty of praise, that surprised me....i was expecting lots of negative... my friends lived in Claywood before demolished and i loved their flat, can be made really nice inside with a great view, although, i work nights and slightly worried about lifts breaking down at 4am, -who the hell saves you?! I'm pretty sure with my waiting time(5yrs) i will get the flat if i bid this week, as its not on 'priority', although, muddy, you said they are age restricted, the one im bidding for isnt, so i could be in with the trash...we'll see But im not worried about living with non english speakers, as long as no one gives me any bother, i couldnt care less who they are. thanks for the input ash
