Preparing a prescription - why so slooooooow!

Recommended Posts

I go to collect my prescription from the pharmacy next to belgrave medical centre at Bramall Lane and I wait 25, yes, 25 minutes for the bloody thing! What the hell do they do behind that counter. There were only 3 of us all waiting for ages!!!! I go and get all 4 tyres changed on my car straight after and it took them just 20 minutes, working cohesively as a team to get the job done quickly and efficiently instead of just tossing it off!!!!! Absolute disgrace! How long can it take to identify two products, bag then and print off a sticky label!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They make a mistake and someone could become very ill. Also there is more red tape than you can ever imagine, including double checking and lots of paperwork. give tham a break. You have no idea what you are talking about...

i always get this every month when i pick up my sons prescription its well annoying. GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER PHARMACISTS!!!!

At one I saw about 8 pharmacists. 4 having a conversation about blokes, 2 supping tea, one serving, and another getting prescriptions, then letting someone else do it when the next customer came in. Maybe 5 or at least 4 of these could be re-deployed in a hospital ward ensuring our old folk are eating enough snap!

A lot of what pharmacies do may not be visible to members of the public in the shop, and they may not have only had 3 prescriptions to deal with.

Pharmacies manage a critical environment where drugs are delivered twice a day and have to be entered into stock correctly and stored in the appropriate place (thousands of medications can look very very similar, so storage must be very carefully controlled).

With every drug dispensed there's also paperwork to record that the drug has been dispensed and reordering of stock so that they don't run out.

On top of that, you may not have been in the shop when the district nurses went in with their list of things that they need for their clinic, or the wad of prescriptions for the local nursing homes was taken to the pharmacy, but every one of them needs the same attention as your prescription, and every one needs checking and passing before it's passed on to the end user.

I'm sure patients would much rather the prescription dispensing took a little time but was accurate and came with the right checks and failsafes, than running the risk of receiving a similar looking (but not the correct) medication that may or may not do the job.

What do you think would happen if the mechanics did not put my wheels back on properly!?

i wasnt making a comparison to mechanics(dont get me started on car mechanics) I was merely saying, although not as eloquently as medusa, that there are other things they have to do than dispense YOUR medication.
