Unisol
We are about ready to replace our machine but don't know which brand to buy next I automatically assumed Dyson were best but Lewis's (Coles ) said not to use on an expensive rug we bought. We have mixed flooring - wooden, carpets and rugs which Dyson's site say some of their machines cater for, but don't want to go damaging rugs etc. So ....... pro's/cons on Dyson's anyone? or recommend any other brands? P.S. We're looking for an upright, not a cylinder type. Thanks!
Sultana
I would never buy a Dysons, but thats just me. I had a Panasonic for years & that was very good, I now have a Hoover - fairly basic model & that has terrific suction, it wasnt expensive either. YakQueudrue
Dyson are absolutely useless. I've met girls with more sucking power than them. Go for a MERCEDES COMBI 1117
KingMaker
Oreck are very good, they are very light in weight but strong on suction, I've had one for years and it works a treat! They're not the cheapest on the market but they are amongst the best, even hotels use them as standard! Check out some testimonials: http://www.oreck.co.uk/testimonials/ or some reviews http://www.oreck.co.uk/about/reviews/ PS. I'm not on commision but just a fan of the product! pete_jim
My Mother has a Dyson - too heavy and I think they are difficult to use. I've had a Miele for 20+ years and it is still fantastic.
penny_crayon
I've got a Miele too - it's fantastic, with loads of attachments for hard floor and carpet and nozzles. I feel quite sad, but I really like my vacuum cleaner!! They consistently come top of Which? ratings too, for performance and reliability. Mine's about 8 years old and showing no signs of age. And it's a lovely colour and small and light!
nick2
Can you still buy Vax hoovers? they were quite cool because you could wash your carpets with them too.
