Maldives... Help!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to Maldives before? Which resort would you recommend? I am struggling to find a resort (All Inclusive) as some have their own rules e.g. alcohol is not allowed!! Soft drinks are ok. Bottles of water and beers are £1.50!! I thought All Inclusive is suppose to be FREE!! I thought wrong :(

I'm just asking you people out there if you have been before, if so which resort would you recommend? Would you stay there for 7 or 14 nights? How much are activities? Boat Trips? etc...

Thanks

I guess you have to ring up all the resorts (or the agents doing your bookings) and find out such details. I've not been there in person myself, but I was looking at packages for someone's honeymoon. It's 1.50 because they are remote islands, and they have to ship the food over. At 1.50, I think this is cheap. In a way, you pay for expensive drinks in a club. It's no different. You're remote on an island. Unless you stay on the main island of Male (?).

Why not just go to a cheaper resort, but pay a higher food bill ? Not 'all inclusive' means a typical Spanish holiday which include buffets.

I don't think your worry should be on the food, you should check out whether the island themselves are back in order after the tsunami, and how much facilities are open for you to use. Some of the islands were affected.

If I was to go that far, and to Maldives, I would push for one of those huts on stilts. Though, they are the most popular, and more expensive deals. However, if you catch the right time in the season, you may get a good deal. i.e. beginning of the holiday season, or near the end. There's a period of time when people are not likely to go because of the possibility of typhoons.

we went to kuredu in february and had such a great time we re-booked a couple of days after returning,it is one of the larger islands with a whopping 3 bars to choose from!although it is a large island it only took 45 mins to walk around. The sea life is unbelievable, everything is there only feet from the beach, rays, reef sharks, moray eels and hundreds of different fish we swam with turtles just 20ft from the beach. The only thing not in the all inclusive was water which was 80p for a 1.5L bottle(free by the glass) and cocktails. The island has its own forum which we use to keep in touch with people take a look for info http://www.kuredu.com
