Babooshka   10 #1489 Posted March 27, 2010 Oh for the love of ...!!! It seems, when my heating is not on permanently, my boiler ceases to work. I turned my room thermostate down slightly, due to the warmer temperature we are having these days. For the past two days my pressure guage has kept going down to 0. I have moved the lever until it has gone back to its' desired position, but it slowly sinks back down to 0. Also, it has been leaking at an alarming rate. Now, today, my radiators won't get warm at all. I have had nothing but problems with this boiler. What is wrong with it? Anyone? MartinsGas   10 #1490 Posted March 27, 2010 First deal with the loss of pressure, your boiler won't work if the pressure is too low. Have a look at your radiator valves, is one leaking? Look closely because just a small drip will cause a loss of pressure also check the carpet/ floor for damp. As to other problems, if you describe what your boiler does as it starts up it would be helpful.
 Share this content via...

Micky ET Â Â 10 #1492 Posted March 27, 2010 I would also look towards the pressure relief pipe outside( the little copper pipe that sticks out near the boiler). I would suspect that when your heatings on its keeping the pressure up due to expansion of water and when heatings off its contracting. Any way if you don't find what it is give me a ring and we can arrange a free assessment when I'm in your area.
 Share this content via...
Micky ET Â Â 10 #1493 Posted March 27, 2010 Have found TPS, but they're way over the other side of Sheffield. Â Will probably scout the local papers for someone nearer Barnsley. Â But thanks for your help - at least I have a better of idea of how much it should cost now. Â Cheers guys! Â If you can wait a couple of weeks I can do it for you up to you
 Share this content via...
Babooshka   10 #1494 Posted March 28, 2010 It's a Combi 30HE. No radiators leaking, no water leaking outside. However, the water is coming out of the front of the boiler (the bit above the flap that you pull down to see all the buttons etc) at quite a speed! frudster   10 #1496 Posted March 28, 2010 Hi can anyone give me any comments on what they think to the sime format 30 boiler? Thanks
 Share this content via...
Micky ET Â Â 10 #1497 Posted March 28, 2010 sime were a cheap boiler when 1st sold. That boiler you hace will have been fitted between 1998 and 2003 I'd say. The parts for sime boilers are middle of the range in price. although ignition circuit boards are very un reliable and break a lot, the fans on sime aren't brill either. The other problem you may encounter is that many service engineers struggle to fix sime boilers I don't know why I find them really easy. hope that helps. snowportjo   10 #1500 Posted March 28, 2010 Hi, first of all I wish I could ask expert-sounding-questions like other posters here, but I know absolutely nothing about boiler:confused:. Our Baxi Solo 3 PFT 40 was making a whistling noise when it was on earlier, so turned it off in alarm. Now turned it back on, the whistling is gone but it's still sounds a bit noisy to me. It also seems to take the boiler a few moments before the pilot and burner to start after turned on. The boiler was flushed and checked in June 2008 by the previous owner, and we were thinking of having it serviced once it's a bit warmer. Does it need immediate attention? Thanks.
