They are £69 + vodka and tonic. You probably don't need one but they'll make you have it to maintain cover. Oh yeah plus engineer gets his little bonus. I'd say you'll be looking at about Round about £150 to have one fitted. But I haven't seen your system.

well mybe 2 min is a slight exageration,they do really well and I would say a magna clean would improve any system even a brand new 1 they really do work well,as for fitting see micky he is the forum guru I am mainly general advise for the minute.work is a little hectic at the mo thank god ..... ;>

I have a Honeywell controller on my central heating, which allows either heating up the water, heating of the radiators, or both at the same time. I set it to come on/off twice a day but for the past few weeks it isn't coming on at the right time. For instance I set it to come on at 5.40am and go off at 8.10am, but it's been coming on around 4am and going off around 7am. Same in the evenings. I think the timer needs replacing.

 

My ex replaced the timer when we moved in 7 years ago as we couldn't get any water or heating at all, so think it needs doing again.

 

Can anyone give me some advice, or perhaps even a rough cost for doing this?

Swiftflow...probably the hot water flowswitch sticking. Common prob on these. Ball bearing passes a magnet when hot tap turned on. Corgi (gas safe from april ) wouid suss it.

Hello,

 

I need help with a Protherm 60-80 CI. The pilot light has gone out and I cannot get it to relight. Everything else about it seems be in order; it goes through the motions when I turn it on but when it comes to ignition nothing happens.

 

If anybody can shed any light on how to get it sorted it'd be much appreciated, cheers.

It could be the thermocouple or the gas valve but its a case of looking at it to see. unfortunately I do now charge a diagnosis fee of £40 (due to customers picking my brain then doing it themselves) but anything more than that and I would let you know first. please call me on the number below and I will try to get out to you tommorow dependant upon your area.

£40 for a boiler specialist to check and diagnose is a bargain.

Usual call out charge is more than double that.

I have a 3 year old Ferroli combi gas boiler. A couple of years ago it stopped responding to commands from the room and radiator thermostats. It just kept on pumping out heat. In addition when it was supposed to be heating water it was also warming the radiators. This went on for a few days and then corrected itself. Now it has started the same behaviour again. Any clues to what maybe at fault.

 

It was serviced about 4 months ago.

Hi,

 

Last year we had a new Valliant combi system installed (and all the old tanks removed, etc).

 

I would like to remove a radiator for decoration and therefore drain down the system.

 

In terms of re-filling the system (apart from making sure that the pressure is correct after bleeding the radiators and adding the appropriate amount of Fernox F1 inhibitor) is there anything else I should be aware of / need to do?

My very old boilers (Thorn M 30/42) pilot light has gone out (It seems to happen when we have very windy weather as we have done lately) and is refusing all attempts to relight t despite us following the instructions to the letter.

 

Any bright ideas anybody?

It Sounds like the divertervalve/switch sticking post what model. best thing is for an engineer to look at it whilst broke more chance of a correct diagnosis.

It may just be a fault !! It will probably be either thermocouple, blocked pilot injector or gas valve I may be round your way tommorow ring me. ( I carry several thermocouples on the van so finger crossed eh ?)
