RichK Â Â 10 #1 Posted July 16, 2006 The Oxfam thread has reminded me of this great shop in Crookes. Â Does anyone know what happened to the place and why it closed (when did it close by the way - I think I was last in there about 1995)? Â I remember the guy who ran it explaining to a customer why they had to open only a few days a week "if I make any more money, I'll have to pay VAT and I never wanted to be Richard Branson". Â A great shop, spent hours on several Saturdays there. Â Strange that the shop has never had another tennant since (has it??) athy   10 #2 Posted July 21, 2020 Oddly enough, during a clear-out, I have just found their business card, from a visit there about 1995. An internet search shows that the building was sold in 2001, so I'd guess that the shop closed shortly before that.
 Share this content via...
RichK Â Â 10 #3 Posted July 21, 2020 Wow fantastic thread alchemy @athy! Â He had business cards made - he was better at business than he claimed then! Â I think it has become a private house now - when I posted the thread the it was still a shop, but boarded up and was a bit mysterious. PapaLazarou   747 #5 Posted July 25, 2020 Remember it well. Sold way too many rare records from my collection to him when I was skint.  Forget the guys name now, but he moved to a pavement unit at the old markets for a while.
