RollingJ Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 It works very well, @Gormenghast - but big organisations, public or private, like to inflate the importance of any 'initiatives' they take. The fact that they 'take these initiatives', some of which are merely window dressing makes them feel important, despite the fact that quite often they fail - spectacularly - is forgotten, though. 1

They're not just taking the initiative, they're taking government money, time that could probably be put to more urgent projects, and finally, the p*ss. 2

The government are daft enough to give them the money, and I agree with the rest of your post.
Man in Crete Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Wow! in a nutshell this is surely a prime example of how poor civil servants, and LA “workers “ are building a communications empire of blinding the common man with bull s###. That’ll be another team of scc “brain stormers “co opted into a team going nowhere but it will keep them in a job . Whoever proof reads these press releases maybe needs sacking if they don’t know Essex is not a city. of course let’s hope some good comes out of this 4

Its works equally well here I think... "Posted Thursday at 12:03 Looking at this reminds me of a quote from advertising tycoon David Ogilvy - "Our business is infected by idiots who try to impress by using pretentious jargon" Seems its not restricted to advertising. Transformative, inclusive, imaginative, cultural richness, outcomes, metrics, etc etc etc... Yer in bleedin' Sheffield, not a £100 a seat plum-in-mouth willy waving contest. SAY IT IN PLAIN ENGLISH" I think it works here. Quite right too, or b reyt
Gormenghast Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 It seems the press have read my previous post - The Guardian head line today states that Ministers are to axe 10,000 jobs in civil service budget purge. Based on my previous experience, I can imagine the message being given to the staff might be something like - We had an ascending flight path of headcount to cope with the covid crisis, but sadly we now have to return to base. Under the current situation we need to resubmit a flight plan which is representative of our future destination. I'm afraid therefore that we have to reduce engine power, and descend at around 2000 feet per minute. Further information will be available soon, most likely after we set flaps to 20 degrees, lower the undercarriage, illuminate the seat belt signs, and order cabin staff to standby.
