I’m pleased the Bill has been passed, there is still a long way to go, there’s talk of it taking two to three years before we see the first assisted death.

Credit to the MPs and there behaviour when it was being discussed in the commons and how quiet they were when the result was announced, there was no shouting and waving papers about.

Yeah I saw that and it surprised me tbh, I thought there might be cheers from those who've fought long for it, but it was deathly silent

I don't think Harold Shipman's mass murders had anything to do with suffering and its relief.  The man was a callous killer of the vulnerable, that's all.

I am pleased that this topic is being debated properly and not swept under the carpet.  There are enough elected MP's in parliament and in the House Of Lords with religious and medical knowledge to represent and respectfully lead the debate and enactments further.

I mentioned this some months ago ..it's now been passed in the house of commons ..your views ?

My view is it's another bad decision.  In years to come just as legalising homosexuality and abortion the goal posts will be moved and assisted deaths will become easier to happen.  Another sad day for our country.

I have some issues with this legislation. I see a banner outside parliament which says 'Its cradle to grave. Not 'til old, inconvenient, or expensive.' How can we prevent coercion or people feeling obliged to die before their time because they're a burden, or the family inheritance is disappearing in care home charges?

As for homosexuality and abortion, do you really want to go back to the days of chemical castration (Alan Turing) or back street abortions? Have you ever seen '10 Rillington Place?'

I’m sure other medics have unofficially given patients a strong dose of morphine which has let them quietly pass away.

I’ve always thought that happened to my wife.

She was under strong sedation and dying slowly with lung cancer.

If my thoughts are correct I thank the doctors. They saved my wife a lot of suffering.

If I’m wrong…I’m thankful for her quick death and lack of suffering.

I’m pretty sure that is what happened to my dad too.

Sorry to hear you lost your wife Allen 🙏
