Be absolutely no early (and by early I mean pre 7am) take offs if no planes are based there.

We probably won't use it then.

The one time I used it in the last 10 years, it had six flights leaving that day. Three of them were after 8pm involving non-base planes from Wizz.  One left at 6am (TUI).  Mine was at, from memory, half two in the afternoon with TUI and was the only flight leaving 5 hours either side.

Perfectly summing up my point. 10 years ago when it was in its peak of (still dismal) passenger numbers over its entire history, it was merely averaging six flights a day.

By comparison, looking at the stats for tomorrow, Manchester airport has 10x that number of flights before mid-morning let alone the number it will do before the end of the full day.

Even Leeds Bradford has 26 flights on its agenda throughout the day, East Midlands on a quiet day has around 12-14 daily flights on its listings.

When are people going to understand this. If it's struggled to get more than six a day in its peak, and it's nowhere even close to its nearest rivals, is this really benefit to the taxpayer?

Or is it more throwing toys out the pram?.... But but but the Greater Manchester metro mayor has an airport to play with and the West Yorkshire metro mayor has an airport to play with so I want one too!!

This is a new plan, with a completely new operator and focussing a lot more on cargo as well as passenger flights to boost the local economy.

It remains to be seen, of course, but I don't think comparing old and new DSA will be comparing apples with apples.

EMA is less than an hour down the motorway and is a massive cargo hub already, I just don't see this working at all.

This is a disaster waiting to happen, and everyone gets to feel the pinch when the council tax continues to be pushed up and up.

It’s nothing to do with council tax.

Its being funded by Gainshare, which is the additional government funding that the region received when the Mayoral Combined Authority was formed.

Yes it was already mentioned, a fund setup to invest in economic growth in our region.

So they're going to **** that up the wall.  Fantastic.  South Yorkshire will continue to fall behind the pack.

My thoughts as well   Millions spent ,

then nothing to show for it

My understanding of the news posted is about 3 million spent so far, projected around 100 million to cover the project and recommence flights.

Happy to be corrected if I've misunderstood, but worth noting the figures down now to compare in the future and as this progresses

Don't see the difference. The council or the government don't have any money. It's all taxpayers money.
