Almost all companies say this but IMO the majority of them don't mean it, it's just a legal requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that they put it on the ads.

I've attended a myriad of interviews at shops in Meadowhall and other places under the "guaranteed interview" scheme, yet as soon as I get there and go through the interview process, I'm obliged to tell them that due to having support workers in at weekends, I can't really work evenings or weekends which are of course mandatory in retail.

Would there be any way round this? And don't give me that "reasonable adjustments" nonsense, I've used that, and what's "reasonable" is open to interpretation at the employer's discretion IMO.

Apologies for the long  but I've spent most of the last nearly 30 years gaining qualifications in retail and other stuff, but I can't get a job despite extensive efforts (you see, contrary to popular belief, I am NOT a workshy slave to the benefit system)

Have you tried places like Currys?

Same problem, they all want me to work nights/weekends, which for various reasons I can't do.

If you're applying for jobs that need you to work evenings & weekends, but you can't work evenings & weekends - isn't it a bit like applying to be a taxi driver when you can't drive & don't own a car?

You can't report things that are countering your points, just because you don't like what is being said.

The very point of a discussion forum is to discuss things. If somebody thinks something different to you, they are entitled to state that (respectfully) and continue the discussion. Debate and discussion is encouraged. Your views may be countered. You may not agree with what is being said (in which case, respectfully argue your counterpoints to what is being said). You may not like what is being said - but unless it is against the rules, such as being abusive, then it won't be removed.

If it is personal then yes, report it... but the post above, whilst semi-facetious, simply discusses and counters the points you raised before.

Also, you can't have threads removed simply because you don't like it anymore or because it hasn't gone the way you thought it would.

Any ideas for a job for Rich?  (to stop him reporting lol)

Charity shops, in fact I've just been in Cancer Research UK on the Carbrook Retail Park, they've given me details to apply online, but there's 2 things wrong with that idea.

Regarding Charity shop work, I've been there, done that and in some cases, literally worn the t shirt.

It literally doesn't pay anything (apart from that 4 months in 1995 I spent working in the Oxfam on King St while on a YTS aged just turned 19 - And therefore too old for a YOUTH training scheme IMO)
