i went via West Bar on my way home last night, my route took me straight up Tenter street, so didn't need to actually go around the roundabout.

in the 30 (?) seconds while i was riding past, i saw 3 other people on bikes, using the new routes (and some of the routes aren't fully finished yet).

(cold, dark, raining, December)

*much* better, and faster, than driving home, thanks SCC!

I don't see your comments being related to what I said, but - Of course I woudl. But not everyone needs or wants to travel on dual carriageways..

your comments were in response to me asking why a cyclist would stay stood in traffic not moving when there was a cycle lane available next to them (such as the dual carriageway analogy)

you then went off about motorways a and b roads and speed and i think we both got crossed wires so prob best to judge leave it there.

Slight hijack but Rotherham council have just announced plans for a Dutch roundabout on one of the BUSIEST roundabouts in the town, one that already had a pedestrian/cycle underpass, which they've only just finished refurbing.

Councils keep claiming they're skint but keep wasting MILLIONS of our money...

The Rotherham one is more ridiculous than the Sheffield one. They have literally just spent nearly 2 years with restricted traffic flow round there for works on the bridge. there is a cycle lane already in existence under the subway to link to worst cycle lane in history on Sheffield Road (if you dont know it then they have put cycle lanes on both sides of a 2 way street but made them so big that a car has to straddle the lanes and if one is coming the other then they both have to go in the cycle lane)

RMBC also want to fill in St Anns roundabout to create a new junction and put cycle lanes down Eastwood area

I spotted that as well, that will be an EXCELLENT one to mess about with.  They can get the traffic queues to go for miles with absolutely NO benefit to cyclists or pedestrians
