lavery549@yahoo
Sorry ,if there is a thread already about this . Where can I get rid of my old computers ? . Also , can people still access my info if they get recycled ?
RollingJ
How many have you got, and how old are they. Desktops or laptops? If you want to make sure no-one can access your information, the easiest way is to remove and destroy the hard-drives, although there are programs you can use to wipe them.

RollingJ
In that case, either of the options I gave above should work. Suppose it's a case of which way you want to do it, or how confident you are.

I am no good at removing hard drives , that's for sure & I am not even sure if they even work anymore , no idea where the plug in flexes are for them now . RollingJ
If you don't have power supply's, them the only real option is to remove the HDD's - how do you get your machines serviced? - it is a fairly simple job for a computer techie to remove them, and if you don't have the power bricks, then you will need to get them to an approved electrical waste recycling facility.

RollingJ
Any competent computer service should be able to get them out for you - or even a friend?

Two years ago I had stacks of old tech, including computers, to get rid of and took it all to Aspire, here in Sheffield. https://www.aspire-sheffield.co.uk/computer-recycling/ "Aspire Community Enterprise (Sheffield) Ltd is a vibrant and energetic social enterprise specialising in computer recycling whose primary objective is to provide a stable job and a supported working environment for vulnerable or marginalised people." I was able to remove the hard drives from the comps myself but Aspire can destroy old data for you according to this: https://www.aspire-sheffield.co.uk/secure-data-destruction/
