GabrielC
What put me off the Cannon was not just the constant do you want to buy this or that it felt cell like with having no windows perhaps some felt at home in there. Oddly enough never had anyone try to sell me stuff in the Hen and Chickens.

The one common thing the pubs had in that area was they were proper Sheffield pubs nothing fancy you either liked them or not.

Imagine asking for table service in one these days ( it has been said by our great leader it is a good thing )
crookesey
There are still too many pubs for the few that can afford to use them, the price of a pint used to well within the reach off the working man (sorry ladies, I can’t recall the female equivalent). 🍺

One pub in Blackpool called Ma Kelly's on the South Shore charge £1.80 a pint for John Smith's, Fosters, Strongbow. Yet other pubs charge anything from £3.25 to £6.50 a pint! Rather pay £5/pint and have a decent pint than 3 pints of cheap, tasteless nastiness, but each to their own.
