Sadiq Khan Blocks Late Queen Statue In Trafalgar Square Until 2030

 ......in favour of 'woke' art...

EXCLUSIVE: Tory London mayoral candidate Susan Hall says she will force "woke art" to move aside for the statue of Queen Elizabeth II if elected

Sadiq Khan has been criticised for effectively blocking a statue of Queen Elizabeth II in Trafalgar Square until 2030 at the earliest - with "woke art" going there instead.

The London Mayor has signed off on the empty Fourth Plinth, where campaigners hope to erect the statue of the beloved late monarch, for "woke" art until the end of the decade.

The first piece to go up for six months will be a fixture of 850 faces of trans people who were mostly sex workers.

It is understood that if Tory mayoral rival Susan Hall defeats Mr Khan on May 2, she will reverse his decision and find an alternative site for the items - while organising for a new statue of the late Queen to be commissioned and erected on the empty plinth.

Ms Hall was outraged by Mr Khan's decision, which goes alongside his plans to give "woke" Left-wing names to London Overground lines.

I reckon he'll still get reelected.

Your thoughts?

I am surprised that Royalists would not know that a it would not be 'right' or appropriate for a  former Royal  Queen to have  her main statue on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square.

A far more appropriate place must be found and paid for by public subscription as has been the custom.

He will get re-elected.

He'll secretly have people telling the ethnic population & the far-left that they'll lose everything if they don't re-elect him

I find Mr Khan quite funny to be honest.

I don't think he realises how funny he is.

The fourth plinth art project has been going on since the 90s.  I rather like it, though some of the projects are a bit nutty.  Antony Gormley did one fifteen years or so ago with members of the public getting up there to do their thing: performance, art, podcasting, comedy, drama, whatever.  That was rather fun.

Queenie deserves something a bit better than an old empty plinth in a tourist trap.

Top click bait article though.  Trebles all round.

Smart thinking @Hecate,  somewhere else perhaps Kensington,  one of the parks.

Sadiq Khan was due to visit Manchester last year until Covid stopped him,  he gives the impression he must favour the Pakistanis in London under the Woke 'umbrella'.

I expect he'll decide to have it erected next to the Thames so he and his supporters can then pull it down and throw it in the river.

So the tory thinks that the former Monarch should be on the same level as animals, looked down on by a commoner and s**t on by pigeons! What an idiot. Shame on those who agree.

So concepts like ‘Liberty’, ‘Vote’s For Women’, ‘Manufacturing Cloth’, ‘Women’s Football’, and ‘Curing Disease’, are woke left wing ideas, LOL.

Why not get a petition going and get them changed to:

Authoritarian line
Nepotism line
Offshore investment line
Douglas ‘race you down the corridor’ Barder line
I Don’t Like Darkies line
Sausage Fingered Wingnut line

Why does there need to be a statue of Queen Elizabeth II anywhere?

There's a few notes in my wallet to remind me of what she looked like.  It's not like when Queen Victoria died & statues went up all over the realm to remind people, (many of whom, would never have seen her), what she looked like.  Folk can just Google Queen Liz these days.

If we can have statues of Morecambe & Wise,  Gracie Fields - Queen Elizabeth II is part of our history and heritage,  good grief we've got one of Frank Sidebottom to gawp at outside Costas in Timperley Village.
