Not sure if this is still true (or ever was true) but I remember reading on some other forum that for speed cameras or even speedbreaks to be installed on any road, there is a certain threshold of accidents that need to be reported (reported, not just occured) on that road, before any of these options is even considered.

Disclaimer: I am happy to be corrrected if this is not true, as not everything you read online can be always accurate.

It's important to notify the police of any incident that occurs in your area so that they know what is happening and the frequency. I know they don't immediately respond and it may seem a waste of time doing the reporting but when they look at the log for your area and see no complaints, wether it's burglaries, anti social behaviour, speeding or whatever  they think....oh what a nice area, nothing to action there.

Has anyone looked into getting a speed camera installed on their or any road?  We're you successful?

Getting absolutely peed off with the amount of speeding cars day in day out on our road. It's bloody dangerous and at night it's noisy as he'll too.

I am not sure speed cameras would eliminate the noisy anti social cretins. I hate them as well. Apparently the government are to encourage the use of "noise cameras", and a good thing too.

I can remember years ago when the commute of a ridiculously loud motor bike was tracked through North Sheffield by all the Sheffield Forum contributers he woke up. ****er.

Noise cameras?

Now that would definitely help. The noise can be horrendous 😫

What about years and years ago when it was compulsory motorbikes had to be ridiculously loud  😀

Not one of mine, but that'd do nicely for waking neighbours up in a morning

It certainly can. I remember walking through H/B the other week and a bike went past that was literally painful to the ears.

More of a problem is loud bikes at night, particularly in the summer (when people tend to have their windows open) when the selfish cretins wake up people who happen to be in the light sleep phase.

In the countryside where it's gloriously quiet, many of us go there for that very reason, it's good for our mental health, but it can be ruined by a loud bike which can be heard from miles away, ****s.

Bit of a waste of time when the vast majority of the really oud bikes and quad-bikes are off-roaders with no numberplates

I would agree that many of them are illegal, but I would dispute if it's the majority.

It's almost at the level where most motrore bikes (esp the "high performance" bikes) have been made louder by their owners.

TBH I don't understand how they get through the MOT. I  know they can get round it but if the owners had to fart about putting the original pipes back on for the MOT and then swapping them back again afterwards I reckon many just wouldn't bother and we'd have more quieter bikes....

Not a moped, but yes, years ago you could ride it on a provisional licence, with a sidecar fitted.

On passing your test, the sidecar would be left up the yard, ready for when winter came.

Happy daze 8).
