Chekhov Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Has anyone else noticed that the timing of the lights at the junction between Middlewood Rd and Middlewood Drive has changed (for the worse) ? It used to be that, on an outbound journey (even at peak time), once you'd cleared Catchbar Lane it was a free run without holdups. You might occasionally get caught at the lights at Middlewood drive but not very often and not for long. Now I get caught there every time, in fact it's nearly always a queue there as the lights don't seem to stay green long for the main road. Even worse whilst there are many cars standing in said queues generally speaking only 2 or 3 cars come out of Middlewood drive (or drive into it turning right from the other direction) but the lights stay stubbornly on red for no reason at all.....
metalman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Yes,, I've noticed I nearly always get stopped at them as well. To be honest I'm not completely convinced this junction needs lights at all - is Middlewood Road that busy? Traffic has to get in and out of Langsett Avenue without the benefit of lights and seems to do it quite efficiently.
hsb98c Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Since they relaid the tarmac at the bottom (and not re-installed the ground sensors) the lights have been more frequent in letting cars out. It appears to change even when a car isn't there so not sure if it's defaulted back to a standard timing. Given there's only two exists to the estate I think it would be hard to get out without the lights to be honest.

If the buried sensor has been dug up, the signal controller will always think there is traffic on that approach and so will always run the lights to that approach on every cycle of the lights, even when no traffic is there. 1

Do traffic lights these days not have camera sensors? I have seen them on a number of sets.

RollingJ Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Just now, Planner1 said: Yes, but some of the older sets still have the buried inductive loops. Understood, although two or three sets near me have been 'modernised' recently.
