It looks like only the big supermarkets and big stores will soon be the only outlets to buy lottery tickets from.  Apparently the new contracts make it  not viable for a small business to sell lottery tickets.  The sale of scratch cards is a big problem under the new contracts for small businesses.

That's strange because whilst Camelot lost the license from this year, the company taking over that license bought out Camelot a couple of years ago! So, effectively the license is changing but the same umbrella company as the last couple of years will be running it anyway.

Not sure if there are changes in the terms of the license, or if the new operator just wants to change things up (it could do with a refresh, I think), but it seems od that they'd exclude smaller stores from selling.

Under the new arrangement the scratch cards are only valid for a set period of time and the shop does not have the option to return unsold scratch cards.  Under the contract shops have to sell scratch cards as well as lottery tickets.  That makes it not viable for a small business to sell lottery tickets.  They did not earn much revenue anyway from the sale of lottery tickets but more than likely a lottery ticket customer would buy something else while they were in the shop.

Richard Branson no longer interested then?

I don't blame him especially when this corrupt Goverment diddled his chances of taking it over.  :suspect:

tbf I wondered why Camelot got it for so long.

The Goverment got a good back hander from Camelot and that would stop if Brasnton Pickle got his hands on it. :hihi:
