The line up seems fine to me.  It isn’t a ‘blow my mind’ kind of line up, but being realistic it is still a small urban festival  with decent ish ticket prices (I’ve been to gigs that cost more for one evening than a full weekend at Tramlines).

I don’t think they can cater every act to everybody, but it is a good broad effort and the ticket value is still great.

Paulo Nutini or Snow Patrol would command a minimum of £50 for tickets to a headline show on most occasions by themselves, so ~£130 for a weekend ticket to see all of these acts (and more to be announced) is a decent bargain.

Likewise, The Human League doing a headline show in Sheffield would be ~£50 on its own nowadays.

Sophie Ellis Bextor was hugely popular the last time she performed and a real surprise hit for many — and the renewed interest in her with younger people because of Saltburn will be a good pull factor.

And the likes of Maximo Park, Bombay Bicycle Club, Tom Grennan, Annie Mac, et al, are excellent live acts.

It is one of those where I think whatever the line up is announced people will initially complain, but it will still sell out and people will still go and really enjoy it then buy the early bird tickets without seeing next years’ line up again.

Glastonbury looks like its £400 a ticket

Indeed - with ~three times the capacity (ticket sales), media rights and huge concession income with a full weekend camping captive audience, etc — so far more revenue to attract the bigger international acts.

Tramlines is a small, niche urban non-camping festival and attracts the acts within its means.

I get that its a bit "niche", but when you compare this years acts to some previous performers, its a little disappointing.

(Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream, Madness, Chic, Manic Street Preachers, James....)

Or maybe its me just getting old.

its a secondry  festival  needs to get back to how it was a sheffield city centre event making us a place to visit ,filling hotels ect or become bigger with camping ,but city centre is my choice with various stages and different acts also helps town traders.

Tramlines Fringe in the City Centre still exists and does well — indeed, I would suggest people do the city centre thing on one at least one day through the weekend… the talent on show across all the stages is incredible and often make up some of the artists you’ll see on the Tramlines main festival in a couple of years’ time.

Its always good to see these bands in smaller venues before they make it too big to play these little spaces.
