'Skeffer' - Did I Imagine This Slang Word?

Meaning a coarse, loud, abrasive person lacking in social niceties - it's a perjorative.

 

I'm sure I got told this by a reyt proper Sheffielder but never heard anyone else use it and can't find owt online. Anyone else ever heard it?

Yes same here.

It was used in the 1980s in West Yorkshire for, as you said someone lacking social niceties. But I've not heard anyone in Sheffield use it in all the time I've lived here. People down here tend to call someone lacking social niceties "a scrubber".

Yeah I think I must have misheard it or it's a kind of false memory. Although I think it's actually a good word.
