Baron99 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 It must be serious, it was mentioned on the main news. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnkdkg99nkwo
The_DADDY Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Apparently it isn't a fire. Emergency services have been sent to the Blackburn Meadows power station in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had eight engines at the site in Alsing Road. A spokesperson said: "Anyone living nearby should keep their doors and windows closed. Please avoid the area while crews work." No details have been given about what prompted the action, which also saw police and the ambulance service attend, but it is understood not to be a fire.

Resident Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Fire crews are still there as of this post. 2 engines and what looks to be an industrial waste skip wagon in fire colours and blue light bar on top of the cab.
Chekhov Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I'll bet it was a big over reaction, as is pretty much everything these days
RollingJ Posted January 19 Posted January 19 You weren't there, you do not know what goes off there, or how it operates/its safety precautions, so do not make assumptions. 1

They should just let power stations burn to the ground. Everyone has gone soft. In the 1970s you could burn a power station down and then go home with your head stuck out of a train window. 4
