Renovation projects for sale?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Does anyone know the best source of run-down properties for sale (preferably not by auction). I've been looking for a while in the usual places (Friday telegraph etc) with no success and thought there may be a more specialised source for this kind of property.

Cheers

now yer askin' :suspect:

most of them do go by auction, but you can often pre-empt this with an offer. ELR or Saxton Mee are usually the auction agents, or use http://www.vebra.com to get info from both Blundells and Haybrook at the same time (Sheffield's big 2 agents)

Look around for what you consider to be suitable projects and when you have the address (you can get the postcode from the Post Office website) go on the land registry website to find out who owns it. It may be only the last registered owner, you can then write to them asking if they are interested in selling. You have to be careful how you phrase the letter, they may have died, and whoever inherited it has no interest in the property. Or just ask around the local shops or other properties, often someone knows who owns them.

There's no point in looking for a list of ready to renovate properties at bargain prices, it doesn't exist.
