Companies say they can't afford to do it, so used to get cheaper labour from abroad. Government schemes are totally inadequate in comparison, and are often age limited, so not offered to many unemployed. Parents seem to want all their children to go to University in spite of the cost, rather than learn a trade, although a decent plumber, electrician etc can earn good money - often more than a graduate for whom there are not enough well paid jobs. English snobbery at it's finest. https://br.ifunny.co/picture/adam-chris-bachelors-degree-in-philosophy-100k-student-debt-can-Euc1cSzc8?s=cl
 Share this content via...

Findlay #17 Posted July 18 The UK business model has always been broken with sticking plaster immigrants the answer according to those broken businesses who fail to invest in and train willing British youngsters. Even the NHS has been at it from the start. You dont see a careers office in town like the Armed Forces. Training for our youngsters who aren't going to Uni should start in Year 10 or 11.
 Share this content via...

Before we had foreign workers we taught apprentices in these skills and there was no need to import workers. Stop trying to blame Brexit for everything and look at the facts. 1
 Share this content via...

The shortage of skilled workers in construction started long before leaving the EU was a reality. 1
 Share this content via...
