My thoughts are that the Met shouldn't drop their standards to meet diversity.

If there are functionally illiterate adults then that's a crying shame, and the numbers of adult education classes should be increased, with teachers incentivised with higher pay to work in this sector.

Having said all that, I think given recent events at the Met, and the warning from the head of the Met that there will be a lot more court cases 'every week' of police officers who sexually assault women, it might be nice if they increased their diversity of male officers who don't treat women like ****.
