Not sure if this has been covered before but here goes.

SCC are to decide to  grant or deny the building of a 40 storey skyscraper on the plot where Primark is now standing.  Why would anyone want to live with their heads in the clouds. I's only a couple of decades ago quite few tower blocks were demolished in favour of low rise or conventional housing.

What are your thoughts.

It is not proposed to be where Primark is now standing, which is down The Moor, but where Primark used to stand. This was previously C&A s, then Peter Robinsons, then Primark. They then moved down The Moor.

Whenever I see proposed tower blocks in city centres, I always wonder where they expect people to put their cars? Or do they expect every resident to be car free?

FFS, we're talking Sheffield city Council here.

In a city centre the only way is up, most efficient way to house large numbers of people.

The view from the upper floors would be quite good as well, something to enjoy when you wake up every morning.

Considering there's a tram stop right outside, the bus depot and train station are a 5 minute walk then it's reasonable to assume those who choose to live there won't be car owners.

And they wil lbe nicely in the centre of the congestion charging zone. Excellent selling point.....

Not really, given cars are exempt from it.

Placeholder for someone to reply "...for now" with the above.

And if the lifts don't work?

You make it sound like tower blocks dont already exist, what do you think happens in those?
