When I was a kid we used to go to some kind of old tip that was below the Bell Hag pub somewhere (can't remeber exact location, it was 30-odd years ago), there were loads of old (Victorian even) bottles there.

I would love to have a go at digging for old pots and jars etc, think my young son would love it too, anyone got any suggestions, as I know this is an old post brought back to life!

I used to go digging for bottles on the bole hills in the 70's, found a lot of clay pipes as well, the area is now the bmx track but there must still be areas to dig just up the hill from the track

Are you allowed to just go and dig these places up or do you need to get the land owners permission?

I have never heard of this, did some googling and some bottles fetch thousands! Do you people here do it for money or as a hobby? I'd get my hands dirty for rewards like that :D
