Sheffield Wednesday V Charlton

Recommended Posts

Very hard earned win for us today, showed very little 1st half, charlton pressed high and closed down any space quickly, as a result, Wednesday struggled to pass with any threat or impetus.

The keeper didnt make a save until the 50 minute mark but the match turned on 3 subs on the hour, MF newcomers Byers and Barkinson got on the ball and made important interceptions and as a result we got our tails up, the two charlton wide players also begun to fade in the heat after being such a threat in the 1st hour, Windass moved into the no 10 role and was his cross that Barkinson converted 9 mins from time with Wednesday now getting more bodies in the box after the introduction of Sow.

Not a great watch but credit to DM for making much needed changes.

Staninoodle has summed the game up very well, first half a total non event from an Owls perspective, they showed some passages of decent play at times but these were few and far between, the introduction of the subs changed the game, well done to the manager for that.

Palmer MOTM.

Not a very convincing display  again from the team, but 7 points from 3 games doesn"t sound to bad,DM as got to get Bannan back into is proper midfield position,as playing all over the pitch doesn"t seem to be too good for him,we seem to be trying to play too much at the back like last season and this could have cost us again,Stockdale not very good a kicking the ball up the field, hope we can better the next two testing games against Peterborough and Bolton, hope we do finally spend some money on a new striker or winger

Thanks Padders! Impressed? No? Me neither. What was it? Our 10th game of the season? Summat like that anyway. We're not the force we should be. Stop namby pambying about and see these Pretenders off. It should be done at a canter. Or are we not all that bothered?

It appears we've stole 2 wins when we didn't deserve them but victories like that get promotion.

Better that than coming away from games with no points or a point when we should of won. Need to up the performance next game though if we want 3 points.

Its a good sign that we can win games despite playing poorly....first half i thought we looked all over the place...and when ever Patterson starts a game you are effectively playing with 10 men....but, as others have said the subs made all the difference..and Wednesday deserved the win...

Desperate for an injection of pace into the squad but if we can address that ,we could be pushing for a top 2 place....

Patterson was incredible against Barnsley away. Was it last season or the one before? Not sure if he started or not, but he covered every blade of grass. He won every tackle and terrified the life outev 'em. Shame some players clock on and off at will.
