BBC News reports that Doncaster's in the shortlisted six locations for the HQ of Great British Railways.

Derby would be as or more beneficial to Sheffield interests as it shares with us two long distance routes that need upgrading and electrification.

I very much doubt that the location will effect electrification and upgrading choices (I am not disagreeing with the need)

 

The thing that amused me was that one of the criteria would be public support - as if any of the locals object to the creation of jobs in their area and for some reason no consideration of the views of existing staff who would have in many cases relocate (or face long commute)
