Anyone else noticed some out-of-place shops scattered around lately? Places that seem to be open but are permanently empty and charge extortionate prices? A couple that spring to mind are the Tango Blast shop on London Road and the 'Candy Shop' that's down the road from the Tesco on Sharrow Lane. The latter has never opened up despite spending money on some fancy new sign around 6 months ago, and I've noticed the odd dodgy-looking type sneaking out from under the shutters at night-time. The Tango place charges a fortune, and I've literally never seen a single person in there when it's been open.

Are they just money-laundering schemes or something similar, like the ones reported on in this video?

There now also seems to be a "Tango Blast" shop down Attercliffe, never seen it open. But I suspect you are right, seems very dodgy.

Of course none of these premises will be paying anywhere near the rates they do on Oxford St in London, and they may be benefiting from some generous offers at the start of the tenancy such as zero/half rent, but it still makes you think.

Not a single review since December there so assume they must have decided that was a poor idea!

Anything suspicious about that milkshakes and desert place on firth park? Its not cheap and always empty. Someone almost burned it down and damaged the air-conditioning last month.

The candy shops in London have been raided several times, all the stock was found to be fake, the businesses operating there had paid no rates to the council either.

Very much sounds like the same scam has moved out of London, it's upto the local council to be on the ball and shut these criminals down swiftly.

The longer they're in operation, the more lazy and inefficient the council enforcement is.
