Male Blood Donor Turned Away For Not Answering If He Was Pregnant Or Not.

Spin it all you want.

Donor got chip on their shoulder, acted like an ass and refused to cooperate to simple, routine and perfectly reasonable questions and paperwork.   Damn right the clinic wouldn't take their blood.  He was a liability.   What else might he refuse to answer or comply with.

The only madness here is some Donor being petty and childish in their pathetic attempt to try and prove a point.  The clinic staff were just doing their job.

He was volunteering to give blood.

with a huge side serving of narcissism, there is a lot of it about these days.

Narcissist

Narcissistic personality disorder involves a pattern of self-centered, arrogant thinking and behavior, a lack of empathy and consideration for other people, and an excessive need for admiration. Others often describe people with NPD as cocky, manipulative, selfish, patronizing, and demanding.

A man goes somewhere and offers to let someone drain blood out his body in case someone needs it to stay alive.

For whatever reason he doesn’t think he should answer whether he’s pregnant or not because he’s a man.

they don’t take his blood.

he goes home.

Should anybody refuse to answer any question on the form they dont like?

which means they need important information, which means filling out a form correctly, not missing bits

Well if God forbid I’m laid at the side of the road haemorrhaging blood and there’s none available to replenish it at least I’ll know the form was filled in correctly.

especially over a question as important as whether a man was pregnant or not.

the issue is they refused to take a man’s blood because he wouldn’t confirm if he was pregnant or not.

No, the issue is that the form isn't complete and therefore isn't a reliable source of vital medical data.

Where does it end? people not filling questions in willy nilly on such important forms?

What was stopping him ticking no on the form?

He decided to make a stand against bureaucracy, HE chose not to fill it in, HE chose to take a stand, HE chose to put his blood giving in jeopardy by not filling in a form correctly which is an important piece of information for such a dangerous practice.

So he was a man after all.

Simple resolution....add a column with N/A as an option.

Some of the questions regarding being out of the country for 6 months, injecting yourself with needles would suit an N/A option.

A big fuss over nothing when lives are at stake

It seems that Leslie has reached the ripe old age of 60yrs+ and is not cognisant of the 'fact' that men can now get pregnant. Maybe BTS staff should have set up an indoctrination/education session explaining about men getting pregnant.

The Telegraph seems to have made a bit of a faux pas in using the banned word 'women' in the article:

Quote

Pregnant women or those with a baby which is not yet six months old are not allowed to give blood.

Don't they know it's 'pregnant people' for goodness sake?   Shame on them.

Even by ticking no you're playing along, normalizing gender fluidity/neutrality, accepting it as a concept and accepting the idea that a man can be pregnant.

You aren’t.

You are just telling the Blood Transfusion service that you aren’t pregnant.

By flouncing about it, you would be telling the world something else about your character.
