Janus   28 #13 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) @geared That sounds like a good option to me. I had not heard of that sort of thing. I still have the original spare wheel in the boot. Have owned the car for 10 years.  Do you know of a place that would look at it for that sort of job? RJRB   688 #14 Posted May 30, 2022 Why not use the spare if it’s a proper wheel and use the repaired with tube as a spare. It can’t be a worse option than a space saver.
 Share this content via...

A wheel refurbishment place should be able to straighten the wheel, sandblast and paint it. Have it like new.  You'd need to get the wheel off and take it down there tho, leaving your car on 3 wheels on the driveway? Beat me to it Geared. You taken up mind reading as a side line? Refurb specialist has to be the way. Easy to search for on't internet for something nearby and those with a good reputation . With you on 'Metal magic' (had a few bike frames done there). Diamond cut alloy wheel repair also Barnsley have a good name for them selves.  As for vehicles with 3 wheels I've a yard full 🤣 🤣.  Keep safe .
 Share this content via...

Always 'Reliant' on them and wouldn't have a bad word said against them, even after passing my 'proper car' test. Certainly did us proud until we couldn't shoehorn any more kids in  . The fact I managed to build my collection before prices went up is a bonus. 2 wheels 3, or more its all fun .
 Share this content via...

cgksheff   44 #20 Posted May 30, 2022 I am happy to stand corrected and my initial response was ill-advised. Whilst it was something that I have done in the past (it is not illegal), I have been made aware of the increased risks. A "tubeless tyre" has a much coarser inner surface and as such presents a greater risk of wear and failure (including blow-out) of an inner tube being used. "Tubed" tyres are made with smooth inner surfaces to minimise such risks.
 Share this content via...
