Train Drivers Strike : 'Summer Of Discontent'

The point, (if not obvious) was, the technology has been there for a century, but vested interests have stood in the way of progress as they always do.

Infrastructure employees should be banned from striking, the fact we are still discussing this after all this time, just shows how inept the machinery of government is.

Another example is smart motorways, how did they ever come to be installed, and why are they still there, it's beyond belief.

Now you see,  you have got it at last.

Wrong .  The Tories hate unions and, if they could have automated the railways, they would have if only to do a thatcher on them.

In your opinion, with little to back it up - IMO.

Every poster is only expressing their own opinions, including you.

True - but some seem to either miss or ignore bits they find don't fit in their thinking, or which should make them take a step back.

Time for me to hit the hay, it's been a long day - elsewhere, on more productive endeavours.

So the Chief Executive of Birmingham Airport has just received a 49% pay rise.

Nick Bartons annual salary has risen from £399,000  to  £595,000.

How will he manage?

It has occurred to me that environmentalists should be against these train strikes (and in fact all industrial action in public transport) because if they want people to get rid of their cars they have to be 100% confident they can still get about.

The thing is many (most ? ) environmentalists, esp the hardcore, are left wing and therefore in favour of workers rights to take industrial action.

So, I wonder what side of the fence they'll come down on ?

Wow, traindrivers, teachers, GPs and I'm now seeing BT staff are planning on going on strike, it's like the 1970s again
