Like her or not, and I didn't at the time, she was great woman. As I said I was not a fan at the time, but if she had been in charge over this Pandemic we'd have got through it far better. She was actually a scientist, and was not afraid to be unpopular, there is every chance we'd have done a Sweden, and not be about to enter the biggest recession in a generation. Padders   2,839 #4 Posted May 15, 2022 The only thing wrong with Margaret Thatcher, she was a Tory... The best leader this country has ever had.. Wish we had a Labour leader half as good.
 Share this content via...
Norbert   145 #5 Posted May 15, 2022 There were many many things wrong with Thatcher, but the fact that she presided over Section 28 is enough for her to be reviled, even Cameron apologised for it.  Never forget that under the Tories it was illegal for schools to promote the 'acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship'  Burn in hell while covered in eggs Thatcher! 1 1
 Share this content via...

During her time as Prime Minister legal homosexuality was still in its early days and such a thing as same sex marriage was never on the radar which wasn't legalised until Cameron became prime minister. Even in 2022 there are people living in this country including myself who don't believe homosexuality should be promoted in schools. Mercifully, your opinions and those of Thatcher are no longer relevant. We are a much better country without that sort of bigotry.  Thatcher was a despicable PM. Clause 28 was one of her most despicable acts.
 Share this content via...

Hmmm... Didn't we try that once in Sheffield with Seb Coe?  But all the tourists did a runner...
 Share this content via...

The whole point is that Section 28 sought to stop acceptance! The wording is clear and includes the perjorative 'pretended' on top of that. Do you seriously think Section 28 was brought in because schools were saying, 'go on give a try'.
 Share this content via...
