Hi, just joined.  My grandfather was Charles Furness. He was born at the Robin Hood pub, Little Matlock. His younger brother, Mathew Furness ran the family ganister mine, he was married with a young family. As Charles was single he moved to work in Westthorpe pit in Killamarsh.

He lodged with my grandmother’s elder sister in the village, they met and married.

There used to be a teacher at Myers Grove School near Stannington (or in, depends on which side of the debate you sit) called Samantha Furness. Are you related?
