Yes, I liked both these actors, as Dennis underplayed the part, which worked wonderfully.

Sad news, 

Saw him out and about a few times in Beconsfield  whilst working in that area for a short while in the late 80s.

Oddly I started rewatching The Sweeney this week, that and Minder were unmissable telly. RIP Dennis.

Tbh,  the partnership with George Cole worked brilliant, The show declined rapidly with Gary Webster,  Waterman was an hard act to follow.

I first came across Dennis (RIP} around 1962 when he played Just William on BBC tv. He would have been about 14 then.

The Talking Pictures tv channel shows films with him in from his early days when he was in Children's Film Foundation (CFF) films from the late 1950's / early 1960's when he'd be in his teens. 

 

He was good in Minder but I thought he was better in The Sweeney.

Sad news.

He was one of those one off actors who you thought would go on forever, so this comes as a shock.

He'll be missed.
