Magistrates / Jury may view it as withholding evidence for some purpose?  Being reliant on entirely circumstantial evidence when defendants go  “no comment “ in interview,  there would be little opportunity to offer credible later evidence in court? 

The ‘caution’ used to be….

“You are not obliged to say anything, but anything you do say will be taken down in writing and given in evidence “.  
This was changed in the late 80’s / early 90’s I think?

Withholding evidence is a different matter altogether.

If the solicitor says "go No Comment" - go No Comment,

When your playing poker would you deal your cards face up - No.

Take the solicitors advice & keep stum till you know the charge.

Be silent in case something you say is misconstrued or misrepresented by the prosecution in order to secure a conviction (when in fact you are innocent).

I believe they changed the rules in the 90s, could've even been during the biggie, the criminal justice act.

No longer did your right to silence be a defence

Would you give a mugger a bat to twatt you with  NO.

Then why give the police something to take to the CPS  (Crown Prosecution Service) 

Say nothing, the CPS (Can't Prove Sod-all) has to be a better alternative than the stripy cell:thumbsup:.
