Baron99 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) Surely in this day & age, if you go out you take both cash & cards, especially if you go to pubs, bars, restaurants you're not familiar with. For God sake people, you're supposed to be adults, otherwise grow up. I've been carrying both for well before the pandemic in my wallet. I also see the if I need a taxi in Sheffield, a certain taxi firm now has a number of alternative methods to paying cash. Edited April 30, 2022 by Baron99

Many of us prefer to pay with proper money (cash) instead of immitation money (card bank transfer). It's like everything else LP. It's called progress, I love cash, I love the smell of it, the only thing better than cash, is more cash... Very rare I use a card (plastic money) this generation will be telling their grandkids how they used to use coinage... Having said that, I wish they would get rid of 1p's and 2p's.
hackey lad Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Daughter was in Asda other day , self service tills went down not accepting cards . Normal people went outside and got cash out of bank , other people stood looking at the tills waving their cards . Cash is King

Firstly, you go down your local shop, major UK shop chain, pub, restaurant, bus company or taxi company, how they request how you pay has nothing to do with the Govt. The retailer decides how you pay or ultimately in law, whether they actually want to serve you. If a retailer decides they want to be paid in carpet slippers only then that is their right in law as long as they aren't discriminating against customers. Edited April 30, 2022 by Baron99

I notice more of ky fellow customer resisting the cashless push each day. Shops like Humpitt on Leopold Street remain considerably empty. Businesses need customers, not the other way round. There are many great businesses that accept proper cash and a growing awareness of what is going on means that thankfully, this is on the increase. Exactly. If you don't agree with how a retailer wants to accept payment, don't frequent them but don't moan about they type of payment method they're accepting. In recent months I / we have been in various establishments who have said we only accepting cash / card or both. I now find myself asking before hand `Do you accept cards? " because that's how I've become used to paying but I also carry plenty of cash with me, as I did pre-pandemic days, so actually nothing had changed for me / us. We could still go out for a night & pay everything in cash. Of people are moaning that they have to pay by card in certeplaces bu don't have a card or are unable to obtain a card then that's their problem not the retailer. Edited April 30, 2022 by Baron99

The New World Order wants a cashless society and that is very bad for you and your children and their children. We must resist and stand against it. Cash allows freedom. My bold "New World Order" God Almighty. You do know people paid for goods in shops or drinks in pubs with debit & credit cards & received cash back by retailers, on those cards pre-pandemic? They world of buying & selling didn't suddenly change in March 2020 with the first lockdown. I remember buying a round In pubs for convenience, using a debit card back around 2006 & have done do ever since, on occasions when needed. Just as I've paid for a lot of other things. Also people didn't suddenly start paying for things via the Internet with cards from March 2020 either. But going back to the initial post. The poster is moaning about a pub they've not visited in around 39 to 40 odd years. Jeeeeeeesus! Edited May 1, 2022 by Baron99

I know, but you see I’m always moaning (ask Mrs Tipstaff!) 😂 However, we’re on page 3 now and post number 32, so I’m satisfied it was worth it 👍😉

I read the other day about a man who got hit with a PCN for not paying in a car park recently, he tried for 11 minutes to pay by phone and with a card but couldn't pay so left but got a PCN for not paying to park. The company who look after the car park said well he should have had some cash with him and turned down his appeal. Edited May 1, 2022 by iansheff
