Not daft ideas by any stretch of the imagination,

A hamster wheel may only generate a small amount of electricity, but when you have millions operating at the same time it's a hell of a lot.

Of course the big energy suppliers would never allow this to happen.

I really like that idea 

Similar to my suggestion about Gyms..

But with an added advantage that the more Electricity a prisoner generated, the earlier he would be released.

It's a win win situation.
