Ukraine: Invasion Imminent?

Their the EU Dear Leader, has "proposed" to place a ban on Russian  Oil imports.

Note, No mention of Russian Gas. :)

The proposal would take from 6 months to a year to implement, once it has been passed by the EU.

And there's the Rub! It would have to be passed.

And the longer the EU leave it the more money Putin will get to fund the war as gas and oil prices will rise dramatically before the EU implement any of the above.

No Russophile here. mate.

I would have done what another recent leader would have done. Threaten to take out the Kremlin if they invade.

Like he did with North Korea, and the Taliban. and Iran's Terrorist Top General.

Totalitarians only respect strength, they thrive on weakness.

None of whom have nukes deliverable on the US.

Remember our little aside about MAD? Only yesterday?

🙄

MAD is only a useful tool if you have made it clear that you WILL use it.

Otherwise, it's just a waste of money!

A civilian gets killed whether she is vapourised by a nuke, or left to die in pieces in a burning cellar.

(See U.S. Drops Atom Bombs, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki!)

Niobody's tearing down statutes of the Democrats under who's Administration they decided to do that!  :)

To my knowledge, put aside ill-informed pub counter-grade rethoric on Russian national TV by media stooges, and an instance or two of cautionary diplo-speak from NATO after abortive Russian bio false flag ops, nobody has done that in relation to the current conflict. Neither Putin, nor Biden, nor anyone else.

The issue of Russia’s actual nuclear strike capacity (as estimated by numerous experts on the topic), after over 20 years of Russian-style ‘maintenance’, might have something to do with the fact: there’s simply no need, the state of the balance is long well-known to the players.

Radio 4 news this morning, apparently U.K. serial sex offenders are attempting to give shelter to Ukrainian women, after what they have gone through this is all they need.

If true, it's more of, "never let a crisis go to waste!"  :)

Another glimmer of hope as reality sets in.

My views, encapsulated well by this article from today:

Why sanctions against Russia may not work

https://thehill.com/opinion/international/3473500-why-sanctions-against-russia-may-not-work/

Last paragraph of the article:

"Biden’s belief that “this war could continue for a long time” is backed by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, who testified that he expects it to last years. But as the conflict drags on and the boomerang effects of the sanctions deepen the cost-of-living crisis, the divides in the Western camp will widen and “Ukraine fatigue” will set in"

Stop the political fiddling while the Ukraine burns.

We need some real leadership from those who are getting paid to deliver it.

And NOW!
